How do I start a session?
Open the app and complete the welcome steps, including the “Before you go in” safety screen. On the Plunge screen, choose your planned time, voice and sound. You can enter a water temperature and choose optional breathing or a warm-up.
Tap Start (labelled “Start session” in the current standard interface). Try your sound and Siri settings on dry land first. A timer setting is not a recommended safe exposure time.
What can I say to Siri?
Say “Hey Siri”, followed by one of these phrases. The app name is part of each phrase. You can also find them in Settings → Use Siri.
- Start“Start Ice Timer Pro”
“Start my ice bath in Ice Timer Pro”
“Begin Ice Timer Pro” - Pause“Pause Ice Timer Pro”
“Stop Ice Timer Pro”
“Hold Ice Timer Pro” - Resume“Resume Ice Timer Pro”
“Continue Ice Timer Pro” - End early“End Ice Timer Pro”
“End my ice bath in Ice Timer Pro” - Confirm you are out“I'm out, Ice Timer Pro”
“Done, Ice Timer Pro” - Change the music“Next track in Ice Timer Pro”
“Change music in Ice Timer Pro” - Check time left“Time left in Ice Timer Pro”
“How long left in Ice Timer Pro”
“Stop” pauses. “End” asks you to confirm before finishing early. Starting opens the app with your last settings after onboarding. Session controls can work while your phone is locked, subject to your Siri settings.
Before your first session, try “Time left in Ice Timer Pro” on dry land. If iOS asks to turn on shortcuts with Siri, allow it then.
Does it work in Silent mode?
Session audio is designed to play even when the iPhone’s Ring/Silent switch is set to Silent. Media volume and your selected audio output still matter. Check both before you start.
Voice and music have separate volume controls. Muting the music does not mute the voice and cues. If audio cannot be prepared, the app offers “Try sound again” or “Start without sound”. Calls and other interruptions can affect audio; do not rely on an audible cue as a safety guarantee.
How does the Lock Screen timer work?
With Live Activities enabled, your active session can appear on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island on compatible iPhones. It shows time and session status, with controls to pause, resume, end early or confirm that you are out.
If it does not appear, check that Live Activities are enabled for Ice Timer Pro in iPhone Settings. Keep the app running during your session. Anyone who can see your Lock Screen may see the session details.
A compatible Apple Watch paired with your iPhone can also show the session’s time and status in the Smart Stack. The Watch view shows information; use your iPhone or Siri for session controls. Live Activity mirroring must be allowed in your device settings.
How do I save to Apple Health?
Go to Settings → Apple Health → Save sessions as workouts, turn it on and grant permission. Saving is optional and off by default.
The app writes a Preparation and Recovery workout and, when entered and permitted, water temperature. It does not request access to read Health data. Turning saving off stops future writes; existing records stay in Health until you remove them there.
How do I delete or export my data?
Go to Settings → Data → Delete all data, then confirm Delete everything. This removes local profiles, session records and badges from that iPhone and returns to the welcome screen. Individual sessions and profiles can also be deleted.
This does not remove records saved to Apple Health, exported files, original photos or copies in device backups. Manage those separately. Some preferences and temporary files are not part of the profile/history deletion.
To keep a copy of session records first, choose Settings → Data → Export all sessions (CSV) and select a destination in the share sheet.
Does my history sync with iCloud?
No. App-level iCloud sync is not enabled in this version. Profiles, photos and session history are stored on this device. Optional Apple Health, your own exports and iOS device backups are separate.
Where can I find the safety information?
The “Before you go in” screen appears during setup and requires an “I understand” acknowledgement. You can read it again in Settings → Safety.
Ice Timer Pro is a timer and guide, not medical advice. Check with a doctor before cold-water immersion, never plunge alone and stop if you feel unwell.
The app is still in development. Some labels and final screens may change. Read the privacy policy.
